The MLS Powers Swoop Down On Texas!

texas%20pro%20soccer%20festival.jpgJust a few hours ago I got off IM with Chris Campasano of Ziga Zoga, and boy is he exhausted. If you have been living in a shell down Texas way, then you may not have heard the rumble of a super soccer heavyweight rolling into town. The Texas Pro Soccer Fest has begun in full swing and none other than the Houston Dynamo, Chivas USA, DC United and Toronto FC will go head to head in a week long run of friendlies and training sessions from the 3rd to the 9th of March 2008.

Chris told me about how good it was too meet up with team managers like Mo Johnston, and see Toronto FC goalkeeper Greg Sutton up close at a towering 6' 6". Soccerlens is a premium sponsor and Keeper Skool has also put in some cash to sponsor the event, there will be a celebrity match with names like Anthony LaPaglia also coming down Cibolo Texas way to possibly play in the celebrity match that the guys are cooking up.

All in all the event is sure to be a massive success for Chris, Jason and the rest of the team, and if you are down in the San Antonio area be sure to check out the action between some of the best players in the MLS. Tickets are on sale for $15 a pop and you can buy them directly through the site here. It's great to see what kind of impact this event will help to brew up to help bolster the profile of soccer down in the Texas area. Who knows, maybe an MLS expansion team is on the cards in the near future?
